Pilsener Urquell - Czech Republic (ABV 4.4%)

This beer is supposedly the original pilsener (from Pilzen in the Czech Republic) and has been brewed with this basic recipe since 1842. I understand the modern mass produced beer is now pasteurised and does taste different to the original, it is also apparently best served on tap.

It is a crisp refreshing beer almost with a refreshing iced tea character and grassy hop flavour. Out of the bottle it has little lacing and only a very small head.

Pilsener has become one of the most popular beer styles because of its refreshing, less than full flavoured nature. This is a good example, a very pleasant, refreshing mass produced session beer.
