This is "Prickly Moses" attempt at an Irish red ale. I enjoyed quite a few pints of this ale on my recent stay in Lorne, it was being served on tap at The Grand Pacific Hotel.
This is intended to be a medium to full bodied, malt driven beer with the colour and some flavour provided by the addition of some roasted barley. The brewer has used a very mild "Kent Golding" hop, which balances this beer very nicely.
This ale has an almost sweet malty taste with a slightly dry finish without any hop bitterness. It is not a real powerfully flavoured ale but is quite tasty and very easy (perhaps a little too easy) to drink.
A pretty good effort at an Irish Ale that I quite enjoyed drinking.
SCORE 3.6
